BAUCHI GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH DISABILITY AGENCY
The Bauchi State government is to establish Agency for People Living with Disabilities in an effort to discourage street begging The state governor senator Bala Muhammad disclosed this while addressing members of the Association who paid him an advocacy visit in the state government house.
Represented by the state PDP Deputy Chairman Alh. Bala Hadith, governor Bala Muhammad said when established the agency will ensure the welfare of disable persons. He noted that his administration will be treating the state's indigenes equally irrespective of their socio-economic status. Earlier, the chairman of the Association Malam Adamu Sale who said people with special needs are been marginalized in different areas, called for their consideration in the state public service.
Adamu Sale expressed appreciation for the governor's commitment to meeting their needs. Our correspondent Isiyaka Ismail Wunti reports that members of the Association comprising blinds, cripples and deaf converged on the state government house to called on the need for government and relevant bodies to initiate policies and programmes aimed at alleviating their suffering.
