BREAKING: 41,000 Bauchi civil servants, pensioners may lose October salary

Bauchi State Government says it will not pay this month’s salaries (October) to any civil servant or pensioner who has no Bank Verification Number BVN.
A statement by the Information Officer to the office of Head of Civil Service in the state Umar Sa’idu said the decision was taken to block leakages in the state and local government payrolls.
The government agencies affected by this problem according to the statement include State service, Primary Healthcare, Local Education Authorities, Local Government staff as well as state and local government pensioners.
The statement requested the affected institutions to ensure that their staff submit BVN numbers or risk loosing this forthcoming salary.
Agencies and number of staff affected
“From the available records, it was discovered that total number of 41,448 staff were affected by this development with the following breakdown”, the statement read in part.
A) State service. 5,316
B). Primary Healthcare. 1,933
C,. Local Education Authority. 19,605
D, Local Government staff 4,705
E) State pensioners. 4,019
F) Local Government pensioners 5,870
“Accordingly, all MDAs of the affected Civil Servants and pensioners are advised to adhere strictly with the directives, as government is trying all possible means to ensure the comfort of Civil Servants and pensioners in the state”, the statement added.
