Student Politics: NEVER TO PARTAKE IN AUTOCRATIC SYSTEM OF LEADERSHIP
Comrade. Obed J. D. Bawa |
First and foremost, my highest honour and solemn gratitude to God Almighty, for given me the mandate to serve as the Secretary General in the National Union of Zaar Students (NUZAS) national body 2019/2020.
I also want to thank Him for allowing me have the greatest test of experience so far. To my fellow comrades and entire NUZAS family, a distinctive thank you to you all for your tireless prayers and unalloyed support.
I want to say this without fear or favour, that "if saying the truth will contradict the norms and culture of Zaar land in this era, I prefer I cross the bridge" which I know it is NOT and can NEVER!
The National Union of Zaar Students (NUZAS) is at the verge of collapsing if care is not taken, the "unbecoming will become the becoming" it is obviously clear that when the head is rotten or decayed the whole body system got affected.
SOBER!!!
The incumbent president, Patrick Andrew is a good leader in his own capacity and have contributed his own quarter to the union. Yet have traumatized many of NUZAS loving members and even the executives which prompted the rating of this 2019 tenure to be the worst of its kind ever in the history of the union.
The incumbent president at a point had a set goal with his executives which unfortunately "a miraculous arrival of huge fund into the union" blindfolded 'the eyes' as such deprival of funds (because of personal interest) became inevitable. More over, negligence of the primary responsibility in piloting the affairs of NUZAS became a norm. President Patrick Andrew crippled and sabotaged the efforts of some executives which as a result, that could not enable them to officially execute their good dreams for the union rather left with mockery and insults. Apology!!!
No doubt the Union's interest is left behind, whereas, it is personal interest that is now on deck. For long respect for humanity has been replaced for the mundane.
What are some of the 2019 Achievements?
If you ask this questions, you are likely to get these:
(1) Cafe restructuring
(2) Free Computer training
(3) Gonto Memorial Library, and many other funny stuffs.
Let me begin with the issue of Café restructuring: The fact that yes café has been brought to function this year cannot be denied, but the question is; How many technical gadgets are their in the cafe that can enhances further technological approach? Is the café meeting the needs of the masses (students) affordably or just few individuals who can affort because of their financial buoyancy?
2. Free computer Training ?
The major aim of this project is to kick off computer illiteracy amongst the Zaarites who cannot affort to go obtain computer knowledge elsewhere because of heavy financial constraint. But to the greatest dismay, the same fee that could be collected in those places (being run at) from the less privilege is same with what is been collected for the training here in the NUZAS Cafe! Yet it is tagged: "Free Computer Training" Are we just to ourselves? I'm not saying a token should not be collected at all, of which I know their could be need for fuel and other materials but why not in a subsidized rate, since it is mainly to assist?
3. Gonto Memorial Library ?
Is this a library or a bookshop ? This is funny, it seems we are just playing caricature! If at all we know what a library is. Well, this is so disgusting to note that NUZAS as a group of intellectuals, brains are been washed and diluted in an unclear realm, yet nobody is ready to pinpoint and eloquently speak out the truth. Although efforts of some comrades who stood to raised alarm cannot be silent. The books in the so-called library carries the caption " Not for sale" Surprisingly a recent report shows that the books were bought at a prize! NUZAS where are we heading?
Frankly speaking, My fellow NUZAsites, it is time we wake up from our slumber - Charity begins at home. NUZAS is a training ground, let's turn back a little to peruse on the track records of our great leaders who were their before us Rt.Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Engr. Isuwa Galla and many others today we celebrate and admires them, But they were faithful and honest right fromvthe NUZAS we see today and now look at where they are today! God uplifted them.
Lastly, to err is human to forgive is divine, I caution us all to rise up and do the needful for the betterment of our future! Make a resolution never to partake in anything unjust, stand for the truth. A good name is better than riches! I will never let my teeth rest until I have crushed the last nut.
My call to the incoming leaders.
If talk is cheap, advice is free......
* Be who you are and never in any way compromise. Be faithful and always remember HONESTY has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it. No ulterior motive, no hidden meaning, it is an absence of hypocrisy, duplicity, political games and verbal superficiality.
Honesty is truthful, right, fair and honorable, free from deception, and marked by integrity. Even God urges us to conduct our daily living with complete honesty (Leviticus 19:35).\
Selah!!
