PHCDA: BAUCHI GOVT TO UPGRADE 12 HEALTH CARE FACILITIES
Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency said it has gotten approval from the state government for 12 Health Care Facilities to be upgraded through 72 hour make over initiative.
The Executive Chairman, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Muhammed announced this during an official commissioning ceremony of 72 hour make over facility at Gwaram and Fanti area in Alkaleri local government. He explained that the make over which already 5 has been constructed and commissioned by the state government is a new structured innovative project by the Bill and Melinda Foundation and carry out by The Challenge Initiative Nigeria (TCI) where indigenous artisans are being engaged to construct facility with a priority in childbirth spacing unit that help to support husband and wife via voluntary counselling.
Dr Rilwanu further disclosed that another new 3 make over facilities are underway in Ningi and Shira local government and therefore call on the people to make good use of these facilities. He also expressed satisfaction on the turn out of children in the ongoing vaccination campaign against measles and meningitis.
The State TCI Coordinator, Mrs Rabi Ekele said, she was impressed that the current Executive Chairman of the Agency has indicated hundred percent interest in the TCI project more than any other, noted that, with the kind of support received from him, the project execution is evidently yielding results as attested in the communities.
Mrs Ekele further pointed out that the TCI which is a new way approach to health issues fully supported by Bill and Melinda Foundation, the 72 hour make over a community driven initiative to provide facility which will in turn bring medical services and health counseling in relation to childbirth spacing for the community.
Earlier, the Care Taker Committee Chairman Alkaleri local government, Alh Yusuf Garba Alkaleri said his council will definitely tap from the initiative and experience of the TCI partners, through construction of additional wards in their PHC centres. He therefore commended the Excutive Chairman of the Agency for his effort to bring to the local government such projects.
