The Zaar Developement Association (ZDA) Lagos Branch under the distinguished leadership of Pst. Joshua Yohanna have successfully conducted their Zaar Cultural Festival (Lemp Zaar) for the year 2019 on 30th November at Sululere, Lagos. The event was graced with a colorful display of Zaar colours featuring a lot of Zaar Elites, Leaders of Associations, Honorable guests, Music artists and supporters.
The event was tagged as "Celebration of Culture and Colours", and the Father of the event Barr. Bala Gambar Explained the meaning of the Zaar Colours: Black, Red and White to stand for the "untold hardship, blood of martyrs and hope for a bright future for the Zaar People. The Zaar colours is said to have been upgraded in fashion and design to meet international standards.
Speaking on culture, the guest speaker Pastor Mike Samako stated that the Zaar people has a culture of Unity; which is due to our background, culture of Hard Work; which is historical that before a man will be given a wife in those days, he must farm well for his in-lows to prove he is a real man and can take care of a family. Pastor Mike Samako also shade more light to the meaning and History behind the Zaar colours (Black, Red and White), He stated that the original name of Tafawa Balewa was Pusji, as rocks are where our ancestors worship, so when they saw the black rock (The Rock beside T/Balewa Bridge) they were attracted to it. So the black rock stands for Pusji that is why T/Balewa will ever remain the ancestral headquarters of the Zaar people.
The Black also symbolize Strength, Zaar is known for a very strong survival instincts, as we were able to survive subjugation and strangulation, we were able to survive marginalization because of our inner strength. The black colour also signifies the dark ages of struggle of our fore Fathers to the time of Baba Gonto before it was passed unto us.
The red represents the blood of the martyrs, It was selected in honour of the martyrs and to serve as a constant reminder that the peace we have today was bought by their innocent blood.
The white colour also represent the innocence of a Zaar man and the purity of our hearts in our struggle as its historical that a Zaar man never look for trouble, it also symbolize our hope for a brighter future.
